Pilates Classes

Pilates

Pilates is an intelligent system of exercise which was designed by Jospeh Pilates to achieve balanced lengthened development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Pilates is a great form of exercise for people of all ages and fitness levels. It provides a great foundation for all types of movement as it aims to improve your posture, strengthen your whole body, and increase your mental and physical well-being.

Classes are challenging yet fun, with each class designed to strengthen, lengthen and tone every muscle in the body. My classes combine classic Pilates moves with more functional, contemporary styles to achieve a highly effective Pilates practice. Classes will often involve the use of Pilates props such as small hand weights, stability balls, foam rollers and resistance bands to increase the intensity of the movement, or to help deepen the awareness of the mind-body connection. Thus, classes deliver greater conditioning and muscle toning effects, while enhancing students understanding. Pilates exercises, with and without equipment, are designed to tone both the large and small muscle groups of the body including the stabilizing and postural muscles.

In keeping with the Pilates principles, attention to detail, moving in the correct way and breathing with every move are integral to each class. Under expert guidance, with specific cueing to help you understand the activation and engagement needed to get the most out of your Pilates class, you will witness the transformational power of Pilates for yourself.

Both body and mind will be engaged from start to finish as we break down and layer up the exercises. This approach makes it easy to offer modifications, meaning that all fitness abilities can be catered for.

Mat Pilates

Pilates involves controlled movements designed to strengthen the muscles while focusing on your core and alignment to strengthen posture, improve flexibility, and enhance mental awareness and coordination. My Pilates mat classes focus on just that.
