About Claire

My first real encounter with yoga began when I was a college student. Having always played sports, I was looking for something to bring me as much joy as team sports had brought me. I wanted something that would offer me support and longevity far beyond my playing career on the pitch and so I turned to yoga. As implied my reasons for turning to yoga in the beginning were mainly for the physical benefits but it wasn’t long before I realised that Yoga was going to offer me a whole lot more.

At first yoga was something that challenged me more deeply than anything I had experienced before, physically but even more so mentally. The challenges it presented at the time, to slow down and turn in, are now some of the very reasons I come back to my mat every day. Yoga taught me how to be physically and mentally stronger than I ever had been and is arguably the best teacher I have ever had.

I dipped in and out of yoga for many years but knew it was something I could always come back to and I did with more commitment in my mid-twenties. Shortly afterwards I embarked on my first teacher training and I haven’t stopped since then. I have completed over 800 training hours to date which is ever growing as I am fast approaching my 1000th hour.

I took my first teacher training to deepen my own practice but realised very soon after starting that this was something I wanted to share with others. I began teaching family and friends before taking up my first official teaching role with UL Sport Arena in Limerick where I still teach today. Teaching in UL Sport Arena is very special to me for this reason and I am fortunate to teach such a wide array of classes there for both students and members of the public. I also teach in various location across Limerick city and county, as well as Newport in Tipperary.

I feel honoured to share yoga with my students and watch them flourish. Knowing how much yoga has enriched my life, there is no greater feeling than watching my students discover the benefits for themselves.

In 2022 I qualified as a Pilates teacher. Having practiced myself for many years, and considering teacher training for many years pervious, I finally made the leap. With a background in science and eductaion, my love for movement and helping people to feel a little more connected to their bodies, has always been a passion. My Pilates mat training helped me to bring a new dimension to my own Pilates practice as well as helping me to reach a new demograph of people to help improve their own body awareness and movements patterns.

Adhering to the trend of lifelong learning, in early 2023 I completed my Pilates Reformer teacher training. It is a dream come true for me to now own and run my very own Reformer studio in the heart of Nenagh. Having taught in Tipperary for many years, I am incredibly proud and honoured to now be able to offer classes on a more regular basis in my own studio!

I live and breathe Yoga and Pilates. This does not mean my own practice is perfect, or anywhere close, but I am willing to learn and unlearn for as long as this earth will have me. I hope that reading this will encourage you to begin your own learning journey to discover or rediscover the depths of the person within.
